Experiences Are More Important Than Things

Over the years, I have learned that women not only need to be unapologetically selfish with how they live their lives for themselves, but they also need to be selfish with how they connect with their friends and family. This world has become so obsessed with things: from the newest playstation game to the newest social media app, it’s all kids and adults talk about now-a-days and we need to stop this trend. I truly believe that self-care starts with what we do on a daily basis and focusing on experiences vs. things is definitely part of that total lifestyle. If your family is obsessed with the “things” in their lives, you can break-free from it all and start focusing on creating lasting memories as a family instead of focusing on the newest PlayStation game. Here are a few ways to make sure that you are living this type of lifestyle for yourself and for your family, as a whole:

Figure Out What’s Important To You

In order to know what will make you happy, you need to spend some time thinking about what you want out of life. Is it spending time with family that makes you happy? Solo-backpacking across Europe? One thing is for sure, I have met very few people who would tell me that their cell phone, or television, or other material item is what is most important to them. Identify what is important to you and go after it. You will find that most of the time, that something is an experience.

Plan Trips Throughout The Year

It is easy to get caught up in the work-sleep-repeat cycle that so many people seem to be stuck in these days. Sometimes I find myself thinking, “what is the point?!” Yes, we have to make money to pay bills and live comfortably, but we also need to make sure that we are experiencing the world and living as we were meant to. To avoid getting stuck in a work-sleep cycle, plan trips throughout the year. Make sure you always have an experience to look forward to, even if it is just camping for free in the mountains or taking a quick weekend trip to a nearby town. Working might earn you money, but you will never remember that Monday at the office like you will the Monday you spent waking up next to a loved one to the sunrise at the top of a mountain. Get planning!

Get Rid of Unnecessary Items

Like I mentioned above, we have become a society that is so obsessed with the best of the best. The best jewelry, the best clothes (even if they cost 300+ dollars for one item), the coolest cars, and the newest and most up-to-date technology. It’s time to say no to these unnecessary things and instead, start spending your money on things such as trips, that will create lasting memories.

In order to do this, you have to start getting rid of your items that you do not need. I mean, seriously - do you really need that necklace that you can spot from a mile away? Probably not. That’s why I have started selling all of my jewelry (and other valuables) to Chapes-JPL, the Nation’s premier jewelry lender. Chapes-JPL is not your typical pawn shop, though, so do not get confused. Unlike a typical pawn shop who lends at extremely high rates, Chapes-JPL provide asset loans on items such as jewelry, gold, diamonds, watches, and other assets, at a low rate and a fair value. They have been doing this for over 38 years and offer loans as low as $100 to 5 million dollars. Chapes-JPL operates out of private financial offices and only schedules private appointments for their clients, which makes your time doing business with them easy and very discreet.

In addition to offering low-interest collateral loans, Chapes-JPL also buys your valuables from you, which is what I like to do when I am getting rid of items completely. Both ways (selling, or getting a collateral loan in Atlanta) are very fast and easy. Since Chapes-JPL buys your valuables, or offers loans strictly on collateral, they do not need to do credit checks, so it makes the process seamless for you.

I can bet that you have many unnecessary valuables lying around your house that you do not even know about them. Get rid of them by selling them to Chapes-JPL or getting a collateral loan instead, in order to reduce your clutter, remove the stress from your life, and start focusing on experiences instead of things. You will be happier in the long run, I can promise you that.

Lose the Phone/Camera

How many times have you seen people standing in front of one of the most beautiful view of their lives, and looking at it through the screen of a phone camera. Everyone knows that a picture never does the reality of the experience justice! While phones and cameras are amazing inventions that help us in so many ways, they should do just that - help us when we need it. We cannot let them take away from our actually living and experiencing all that life has to offer. It is so much more important for you to enjoy and experience life rather than worrying about other people knowing everything you did and saw. Don’t miss the view - put the screen down and look up.
